I am Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Utah.  I teach courses in International Relations Theory and World Politics, United States Foreign Policy and Comparative Foreign Policy, and Security Studies.  I received my Ph.D from UCLA, my M.A. from New York University, and my B.A. from the University of Wisconsin at Madison. 

 

I have authored or co-authored the following books:

·Neoclassical Realism, the State, and Foreign Policy (Cambridge: Cambridge University Press, 2009) with Jeffrey Taliaferro and Norrin Ripsman. (Amazon)

·The Challenge of Hegemony: Grand Strategy, Trade, and Domestic Politics (Ann Arbor: University of Michigan Press, 2003, 2005).

·Ethnic Conflict and International Politics: Explaining Diffusion and Escalation (New York: Palgrave, 2004) with Philip Mauceri.
