Biography and Research Interests
Yanqi Tong. Associate professor. She received her B.A.at Peking University ( China , 1982) and M.A. and Ph.D. (1986 and 1991) from the Johns Hopkins University .
Her research interests includes comparative studies of the intersection of political and economic changes in the former communist countries, rural development , and environmental politics in China . She is the author of Transition from State Socialism: Political and Economic Changes in Hungary and China, ( Rowman & Littlefield, 1997), and contributed articles to Comparative Politics, Communist and Post-Communist Studies, and several edited volumes.
Teaching Interests
In addition to general comparative politics classes, she also teaches classes related to China and East Asia , such as Chinese Politics, Chinese Foreign Policy, and International Relations in East Asia .
