U of U Political Science Students Receive Top Honors at Model European Union Competition.
The University of Utah participants, led by Assistant Professor Adam Luedtke, were Maranda Skoubye, Stanley Lloyd, Irma Hodzic, Ingrid Price, Steven Snyder and Joseph Swenson.
The University of Utah team took the most individual awards of any school, beating the likes of University of Colorado, University of Oregon, the University of British Columbia, and Brigham Young University.
Stanley Lloyd won the title of Outstanding Environment Minister for his representation of Greece, while Maranda Skoubye won Outstanding Prime Minister (honorable mention) for her leadership of the Austrian delegation. No other school won awards in both categories.

2008 University of Utah Model European Union Team
The Model EU is a simulation of a European Council summit. Teams made up of two undergraduate students play the roles of representatives of EU member state delegations. This year, the students negotiated issues discussed during the German Presidency of 2007. The 2008 Model EU featured two concurrent summit negotiation sessions focusing on the following issues: the Constitutional Treaty and climate change.
