Robert C. Benedict is associate professor in the Political Science Department. He received a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and German from Seattle Pacific College a Bachelor's Degree, Masters Degree and Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Washington. Many of his scholarly writings have focused on the West, on environmental policy, and on the use of the initiative and referendum process. Other writings have focused on the role of political party activists in the western states. He has published in such journals as the Western Political Quarterly, Sloan Management Review, and Comparative Politics.

Professor Benedict teaches a wide range of courses in American Politics and Public Policy:

  • POL S 5110 The Legislative Process
  • POL S 5380 Government and the Economy

In these classes, policy debates as well as a simulation of the House of Representatives are used as methods to involve the students more fully in classes.
