Nancy Basinger is an assistant professor in political science. As an undergraduate, she attended Indiana University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. After working for six years as the Financial Director of a nonprofit organization, she earned a Master of Public Affairs with a concentration in Nonprofit Management from the School of Public and Environmental Affairs at Indiana University. She completed her Ph.D. in political science with fields in Public Administration, American Politics, and Law, Courts and Judicial Processes at the University of Georgia in 2002.
Research and Teaching Interests
Professor Basinger's research focuses on the interactions between nonprofit organizations and government institutions. Previous work has examined the advocacy efforts of disability groups to enact the Americans with Disabilities Act and the effects of nonprofits on the voting behavior of individuals. Her current projects examine nonprofit advocacy in the courts and the fiduciary responsibilities of board members.
Professor Basinger teaches courses on Public Administration and Nonprofit Management. She is currently scheduled to teach the following classes in the upcoming semesters:
